artistic statement

The visual work of Anne Poitrenaud takes place at the  edge of abstraction. Her works question the duality between nature and culture: a mental landscape with which a human trace (writing, calligraphy, sign or symbol) interacts. There are the power, serenity and mystery of nature. Not by representing them, but by expressing the abstract essence. Culture shows through more or less evolved traces, from the raw brand to abstract calligraphy, or the presence of poetry extracts.

This is a question that Anne Poitrenaud shares through her works: between nature and culture, between sky and humanity. Question the abstract nature of things.

Born in 1972, graduated from a major management school, Anne Poitrenaud followed additional training at the Ecole du Louvre and the Ateliers Terre et Feu, andtoday devotes herself entirely to her profession as a visual artist. She has been part of the Parisian art scene since 2017, and is one of the first artists to have joined the Singulart gallery - where she still shows her works today. She is a member of the association of visual artists Le Génie de la Bastille, and administrator of the contemporary art salon Arami.

Inspired by the allegory of Plato's Cave, ancestral Chinese and Arabic calligraphies, and marked by the movement of lyrical abstraction, his works call for dreams and introspection.
